Vijay Mallya, chairman of Force India’s Formula One team recently launched the team’s Formula One car.The car, VJM01, powered by Ferari was unveiled in front of a large gathering near the Gateway of India. This new car of Force India’s team has the same basic chassis as used by its predecessor Spyker and the only changes are to the aerodynamic package.
Bollywood actresses shilpa shetty, Lara Dutta, Sameera Reddy and Shamita Shetty were present during the launch function to add glamour to the show in true vijay Mallya’s style.
Italians Giancarlo Fisichella and German Adrian Sutil have already been confirmed as the drivers of Force India.It is known that Spyker was bought and renamed by the Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya.Last year Spyker scored a solitary point and managed to finish 10th overall in the 11-team championship.The 10th position was due to the fact that McLaren were stripped of all their points for a spying controversy.
Vijay Mallya said:
We - myself and the Mol family (co-owner) - have given the team financial resources, technical resources and human resources as well. We can confidently state that Force India will move up steadily in progress.
“This is the new platform for the face of new India - Indian-inspired team on the Formula One grid,” Mallya added.
